Hon Washington Misick says he is not happy and shared that he totally disagrees with the maneuver that the British have gone against the wishes of Cabinet to go ahead and make decisions about the TCI people’s money. Minister Washington Misick also confirmed the $2.2 million dollars is for the security of the Special Investigation and Prosecution Team and said the reason advanced to him is that there is a credible threat against Helen Garlick and her team as they prosecute the alleged government corruption cases; but he called it a high stakes performance that is questionable and based on paranoia. Minister Misick said he does not believe there is any danger to any official in the TCI and said the UK must have some information to support the expensive security costs; but that information, he himself has not seen. The SIPT functions under the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force and all funding to them is provided through the police. The Minister gives early warning too, that the legal costs will increase; he called the SIPT cases ‘extremely expensive’.last_img
