first_imgThe French outlet has spoken to his agent on many occasions throughout the player’s Manchester United career, both through good and bad times. On Friday evening they report there’s general agreement on Martial continuing at Old Trafford and extending his contract with the Premier League club. That deal would be for five years, and RMC say the player’s agent Philippe Lamboley has confirmed it, and added that “some details need to be finalised”.It’s a big turnaround for the player after it was repeatedly made clear to RMC and others in France that a renewal wasn’t being considered.Perhaps the exit of Jose Mourinho has made all the difference needed, and Martial himself spoke this week about how much he’s enjoying life under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær.“It is great for me to work with a manager who was attacking even when he was playing, just like me. He comes with good advice, especially suggestions for positioning in front of goal and the actual finishing. There, he helped me a lot,” Martial told Norway’s TV2.“The best advice I have received from him until now is that I have to play to my strengths. Don’t put pressure on myself. He says I have to express myself on the pitch. It is very nice to be able to get such advice from Solskjaer.”Perhaps with a nod to difficulties under the previous regime, Martial added about his new boss: “He can be quite strict with those who have earned it. A good manager must have a bit of both, he must be strict with the players, but also create joy and a good mood.”RMC state: ‘Manchester United: Martial will extend 5 yearsFrench striker Anthony Martial has reached an agreement with the Red Devils to extend his contract by five more seasons. The information has been confirmed by his agent, Philippe Lamboley who specifies that some details remain to be resolved.’by Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksTrending TodayForge of Empires – Free Online GameIf You Like to Play, this City-Building Game is a Must-Have. first_imgSHREVEPORT, La. – Despite the closeness of his team’s Duck Commander Independence Bowl game against Miami, University of South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier had a different issue he wanted to address on Friday. After watching the ESPN Documentary on the Miami, entitled “The U,” Spurrier wanted to refute a quote attributed to him by former Hurricane tight end Jeremy Shockey. The quote, which came following the 2001 Sugar Bowl in which Miami topped the Florida Gators, then led by Spurrier, 37-20 Shockey“While I’ve got your attention here, let me say something,” Spurrier abruptly said in the middle of the Independence Bowl’s final scheduled press conference. “We’ve all been watching this University of Miami 30-30 on ESPN.“They won the game. They beat us fair and square. But a Miami player on that team quoted me as saying “We got our (butts) kicked off the field and we got out (butts) kicked in the game. The off the field reference alluded to an alleged fight between several members of both teams in the French Quarter preceding the game.“I didn’t say that,” said Spurrier. “I wouldn’t be that stupid to ever say anything like that. A scuffled happened sometime earlier in the week on Bourbon Street. Nobody got arrested. Nobody got hurt. Nobody got suspended for the game. To me, it was history.“For some reason, some teams like to glamorize fighting. Our teams don’t fight. I don’t think I’ve ever had a team in a brawl, at least that I can remember. But I certainly didn’t say that and that 2000 Florida team was one of my favorite teams.”…Senior defensive tackle J. T. Surratt spent Thursday night in the hospital due to a stomach illness and remained there on Friday.“J. T. had some kind of stomach ailment,” said Spurrier. “He’s actually in the hospital right now. I don’t know if he will be able to play (Saturday) or not.“I have no idea, other than it is some kind of stomach ailment.”…South Carolina is the home team and will wear its all-garnet uniforms.…USC junior right tackle Brandon Shell has elected to return for his senior season rather than opt out for a chance to be drafted by the National Football League in 2015.That may lead to him moving to left tackle where senior Corey Robinson will be leaving due to graduation.“We’ve got some thoughts on some things we’re going to do next year,” said USC offensive line coach Shawn Elliott. “There’s a chance he may move to left. There’s a lot of moves that can be made.”Shell says he’s open to the move if it helps the team.“I’d be open to it,” said Shell said. “I can see myself there, but I have to leave that up to coach Elliott. It’ll be whatever coach Elliott wants to do.”As far as returning for his senior season, Shell has a definite opinion.“I just knew I didn’t want to have any regrets,” he said. “I didn’t want to regret leaving. I wanted to play all of my years and see what happens after that. I really didn’t give it a lot of consideration.”…Redshirt freshman Alan Knott will start at center after sharing the position with Clayton Stadnik late in the season.last_img read more
